What is Speech-Language Therapy?

Speech-language therapy is the treatment for most kids with speech and/or language disorders. A speech disorder refers to a problem with the actual production of sounds, whereas a language disorder refers to a difficulty understanding or putting words together to communicate ideas.

Qualifications

Kids First Words is fully licensed and credentialed to practice speech and language pathology in the State of Illinois.  Our credentials include:

• Masters Degree in Communication Disorders
• Early Intervention Credential
• A minimum of 20 hours of continuing education achieved every 3 years.
  
• Certification of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  
• Licensed to practice speech language pathology by the State of Illinois
  

Early Intervention Services

The Early Intervention program of Illinois is a state-funded program that is designed to help families and children age birth to three lead a better quality of life.  Kids First Words is credentialed through the Illinois Early Intervention program to provide early intervention services. Private Speech Therapy Services

Kids First Words accepts a variety of insurance types.  Final determination of services depends on eligibility and benefits verification.  We provide speech therapy for children of all ages in a home-based setting.  For more information, call (708) 466-5472.  In order to learn if we are in-network for your insurance needs, contact your insurance carrier or visit their website.  We also accept private pay clients.
